MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS - The duties of positions in this series require moderate arduous physical exertion involving walking and standing, use of firearms, and exposure to inclement weather. Manual dexterity with comparatively free motion of finger, wrist, elbow, shoulder, hip, and knee joints Is required. Arms, hands, legs, feet must be sufficiently intact and functioning in order that applicants may perform the duties satisfactorily. Near vision, corrective lenses permitted, must be sufficient to read printed material the size of typewritten characters. Hearing loss, as measured by an audiometer must not exceed 35 decibels at 1000, 2000, and 3000 Hz (Hertz) levels. Since duties of these positions are exacting and responsible, and involves activities under trying conditions, applicants must possess emotional and mental stability. Any physical condition that would cause the applicant to be a hazard to himself/herself or others would result in the applicant being disqualified.

SECURITY CLEARANCE - This position is a critical-sensitive national security position and appointment requires that you undergo a single scope background investigation and that the GSA security office grant you a Top Secret national security clearance. TRAINING REQUIREMENT - The candidate must successfully complete or have completed the Basic Criminal Investigator Training Program at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, Glynco, Georgia, or an equivalent course. Retention in the position and payment of the special rate is subject to successful completion of this training.
PRE-EMPLOYMENT PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT - The candidate must pass a pre-employment physical examination meeting the physical fitness standards established by the Department. The candidate must be physically vigorous, thus enabling his/her to work long hours under adverse conditions.
LAUTENBERG CERTIFICATION - Employees are often required to carry a firearm during performance of duties and must maintain firearm proficiency. This position requires you to be authorized to carry a firearm. Therefore, It Is subject to the Lautenberg Amendment, 18 U.S.C. Section 922(g) (9), and you will be required to verify that you have not been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence.
FEDERAL LAW ENFORCEMENT RETIREMENT COVERAGE - This position is covered by the special retirement provision for Federal Law Enforcement Officers (FLEO). Candidates without previous FLEO service must be under age 37. Those with current or prior FLEO coverage will be considered only if they can demonstrate that they will have completed 20 years of covered service by the mandatory retirement age of 57. This position is approved for Secondary Law Enforcement coverage under 5 U.S.C. 8331(20) or 5 U.S.C. 8401(17).
DRUG TESTING REQUIREMENT - In accordance with Executive Order 12564, the individual selected for the position is required to submit to a urinalysis prior to appointment to screen for illegal drug use.

Applicants will be evaluated by a Qualifications Review Panel of senior officials. The panel will rate and rank applicants on the basis of the quality and extent of total accomplishments, experience and education. The panel will determine the degree to which candidates possess the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the mandatory technical requirements of the position and the mandatory executive core qualifications requirements. Among the factors the evaluation panel will consider in determining the applicant's relative capacity and fitness for the position are education, training, experience and demonstrated executive level qualifications. The Panel will rate and rank your resume against each mandatory technical qualifications and mandatory executive core qualifications to determine the best qualified candidates.
