This position is in the Southern Region; Cooperative Forestry Unit located in Atlanta, GA.
This position serves as a program manager and is considered the senior subject matter for Landowner Assistance programs. The incumbent provides leadership in the formulation of regional and national cooperative forest policies, plans and oversees programs to restore, sustain and improve forest resources and with the development and management of federal financial assistance and accomplishment tracking and reporting tools. The position is responsible for providing coordination between Forest Service programs and policies and state forestry agencies and other partners to address complex natural resource issues across the landscape that involve multiple jurisdictions. The incumbent also serves as a liaison with partners and stakeholders.

Examples of specialized experience are: Collaborated and built relationships with internal and external partners including, State Forestry agencies, Forest Supervisors and staffs, Regional Office staff, Tribes and other partners to achieve State and Private Forestry program goals and to plan, deliver and monitor programs that restore, sustain and improve forest resources; served as a Regional representative on statewide committees, councils and working groups, on statewide program reviews, and in conjunction with other federal agencies in the delivery of forestry assistance programs; served as a Regional program specialist with program responsibility in one or more of the following areas: cooperative forestry programs, private forest landowner assistance, biomass utilization and ecosystem services; provided providing technical guidance and leadership and assisting with the planning, implementation, and coordination of Regional forestry assistance programs with state forestry agencies and other partners; assisted with the development of plans, policies and objectives and coordinates or develops annual and long-term management programs that include other Forest Service staffs, other Federal agencies, State, and local officials, Tribes, and non-governmental organizations; developed and administers multiple program grants and cooperative agreements with state and private entities consistent with OMB and agency regulations and policies.
