Established by Congress in 1974, the Legal Services Corporation (LSC) is the country's single largest funder of civil legal aid for low-income Americans. LSC currently funds 133 independent, nonprofit legal aid organizations with nearly 800 offices throughout the nation. LSC's mission is to promote equal access to justice and provide grants for high-quality civil legal assistance.
Basic Function: The Deputy Director (Fiscal Compliance) is responsible for managing the fiscal related oversight activities and operations conducted by Office of Compliance and Enforcement (OCE) fiscal staff members, coordinating assigned activities with other OCE and LSC divisions, and providing support and guidance to the fiscal team, OCE management staff and the LSC Management team. The Deputy Director will report to, and is under the supervision of, the OCE Director.
SALARY AND BENEFITS:
Salary: $127,872
Salary range: $127,872 - $143,243
LSC has a competitive market-based salary structure that establishes a specific salary range for this position. The salary range has eight pay levels separated by seven steps. A new employee will be hired at Step 1 and must wait two years to advance to each of the next three steps (Steps 2 through 4), and one year to advance to each of the next four steps (Steps 5 through 8).
Excellent benefits package.
This is not a federal government position. Although it offers excellent benefits, it does not offer federal benefits. There is no annuity offset for a federal retiree.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES, continued:

A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field, and a minimum of ten (10) years of progressive fiscal experience, including a minimum of five (5) years managing and supervising staff. A graduate degree or a relevant certification (e.g., MBA, CFE, CPA, CISA, CIA, or CMA) is required.
Significant experience in applying non-profit fund accounting principles, including generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) is required. Experience in preparing or analyzing audited financial statements and reports, including reviewing and evaluating accounting policies and procedures and internal controls is required. Experience in performing financial audits and/or forensic accounting services with an accounting firm or consulting firm is highly preferred.
