As a MOTOR VEHICLE OPERATOR, WG-5703-8, you will operate primarily straight-in-line trucks and/or truck tractors with semi-trailers which typically have an approximate gross vehicle weight (GVW) of more than 32,000 pounds. Couple and uncouple the truck tractor and semi-trailer, or truck and trailer, and connect and disconnect the air brakes and electrical lines. Maneuver vehicles within close tolerances when driving and backing over uneven ground, in narrow or congested areas, between buildings and other vehicles, between parked aircraft and when positioning vehicles at loading docks. Check to ensure all cargo is secured. Select the safest, most direct and legally allowed route to be followed. Safely operate vehicles on various roadway/terrain and manipulate the dual braking system to prevent the semi-trailer or trailer from jackknifing. Ensure shipping and accounting documents are accurate. Complete log books, maintenance records, reports and other transportation documents. Coordinate with units and other activities for pick up and delivery. Perform warehouse work, as required. Perform a variety of servicing and operator preventive maintenance work on assigned vehicles. Performs other duties as assigned.

MILITARY REQUIREMENTS:
This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the employing state's National Guard as a condition of employment.

RANK REQUIREMENT:

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
You must maintain membership in the Kentucky National Guard.
You must be assigned to a compatible military position.

Currency on out-state tractor/trailer height/weight requirements and on HAZMAT and OSHA requirements.
Currency on all types of loading equipment (forklifts, cranes, winch systems).
