This is an Air National Guard dual status technician position requiring military membership, compatible military skill assignment, and classification. The purpose of this position is to design, deploy, install, operate, maintain, modify, liaison, instruct, train, and recover various types of communications transmission systems and their components. These systems transfer voice and data information within service component and to outside agencies and services. Incumbent is also responsible for obtaining and attempting to maintain currency requirements as a Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) Instructor or Evaluator. Joint Terminal Attack Controllers (JTAC) are the final authority in the sensor to shooter kill chain for U.S. and coalition airborne, ground and naval forces expending ground-to-ground and air-to-ground munitions in close proximity to friendly conventional and special forces. Mission Ready currency requirements for the purposes of training entail performing duty while exposed to a variety of climates and in austere conditions. Work also involves technical and analytical work pertaining to the planning, development, acquisition, testing, integration, installation, utilization, or modification of telecommunications systems, facilities, services, and procedures. Managerial and staff work in planning, implementation, or program management or telecommunications programs, systems and services. Line supervision over communications operations, when such work includes responsibility for management functions such as planning, recommending changes and determining organizational structure, staffing, training, and budgetary requirements.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience, education, or training involving the knowledge of the needs of communications users. Experience using computer and automation systems.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 36 months experience that demonstrates a combination of specialized communications knowledge at management level. Experience reviewing training programs to ensure local requirements are met and enhance the awareness of state-of-the art and future technology. Experience involving applicable agency spectrum management (i.e., Communication Security (COMSEC) and Defense Message System (DMS)) regulations, policies, and procedures in order to coordinate, plan, and satisfy user requirements and to interpret and develop state policies and procedures. Experience involving technical or analytical work pertaining to multiple areas of telecommunications systems, facilities, services, and procedures.
For Supervisory Positions, add the following Specialized Experience: Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel.
Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience - Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in leading to a bachelor's degree, in an accredited college or university, meets the GS-5 level requirements. Undergraduate and Graduate Education: Major study -- electrical or electronic engineering, mathematics, physics, public utilities, statistics, computer science, telecommunications management, information systems management, business administration, industrial management, or other fields related to the position to be filled.
