We are seeking interns for budget/accounting positions in the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (Code 150).

    As a Student Trainee in Accounting, you will perform the following duties with guidance from senior Accountants:

    You perform duties on the REIMBURSABLE AND FUNDS CONTROL TEAM and/or the TRAVEL AND PAYMENT TEAM. You will:

    Deliver reimbursable agreements, accounts receivable, and funds distribution to customers. This includes:

    • Monitor the cancelling of funds
    • Process sales orders
    • Prepare and submit Journal Vouchers for Reimbursable functions
    • Review and process reimbursable budget requests
    • Review and establish reimbursable agreements
    • Process Cost Pool transfer requests
    • Reconcile general reimbursable billings
    • Develop and submit audit support documentation in response to Quality Assurance requests

    You will perform accounts payable activities, processing travel authorizations, providing oversight of travel card use, monitoring, coordinating and reporting on premium, foreign, and in-kind travel. This includes:

    • Facilitate and review travel requests and related vouchers
    • Process, review and establish of reimbursable sponsored in-kind travel for federal and non-federal customers
    • Monitor and closeout of cancelled payables and cancelled direct funds
    • Post Intergovernmental Payment and Collections (IPAC)
    • Review invoice escalation
    • Monitor advance funding disbursement for employee training

    As a Student Trainee in Budgeting/Resources, you will perform the following duties with guidance from senior Resources Analyst:

    You will identify relationships between projected program changes and the projected budget; forecast shortfalls and actions necessary to accommodate the changes; prepare special analyses of fund expenditures; assist in evaluating the effect of cost and program changes on the budget execution process; review and coordinate accounting records and prepares apportionments, allocations, and operating budgets; monitor, track, and report on program obligations; conduct annual year-end closing activities and reconcile with accounting records; analyze financial status reports for overall program status; prepare annual budget formulation documents, and ensure that all reconciliations are made as to workload data, accuracy, distribution of programs, etc.
