This position is located within the Indian Health Service (IHS), Headquarters (HQ), Office of Environmental Health and Engineering (OEHE), Division of Facilities Planning and Construction (DFPC) in Rockville, Maryland. The purpose of this position is to provide professional facilities program analysis to the IHS program executives and program directors, consultation, expertise, and data management to IHS healthcare facilities. The incumbent coordinates information gathering and disseminates activities, and other related facilities activities of the Division.
This position reports to the Director, DFPC.

Technical expert to IHS staff on laws, policies, regulations, standards codes, etc., pertaining to new facility workload, space, and staff requirements. Coordinates IHS nationwide health facilities planning and construction program with Tribal staff and architectural/engineering firms. Maintains computer tracking systems and Health Systems Planning criteria databases for facilities construction, modernization, maintenance, and repair projects.
Responsible for guidance, information reporting, technical support, and the allocation of funding related to new facilities construction. Develops primary health facilities where unmet health needs exist. Develops and publishes technical handbooks, guidance, and standardized documentation to assist Area implementation of the Facilities Planning Program elements. Ensures compatibility and interoperability of components, equipment, and systems.
Program and Group Management
Coordinates the development of national standards for aspects of facilities planning and related management issues. Participates in interagency workgroups and acts as liaison to benefit the IHS Facilities Management program sharing information and establishment of best practices.
