The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Air Reserve Technician (ART) Aircraft Maintenance or Maintenance Squadron Commander.
- Plan, direct, organize, manage and coordinate the maintenance activity within existing policies and objectives.
- Exercise supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
- Represent the organization with a variety of installation and functional area organizations.
- Maintain surveillance and ensures effective operation of the maintenance program.
Occasional travel - Incumbent may be required to fly in a military and/or commercial aircraft to perform temporary/permanent duty assignments.

- Position requires a Secret Security Clearance.
- This position has been identified as a Test Designated Position (TDP), incumbent is subject to random drug testing.
- Incumbent is required to sign a mobility agreement prior to appointment.
- Incumbent must possess demonstrated leadership and managerial abilities essential to successful accomplishment of the responsibilities inherent in this position.
QualificationsYou must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or equivalent in the Federal service that has given you particular knowledge, skills, and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of the position. Experience which provides a thorough knowledge of planning, organizing, coordinating, directing, and controlling the activities of an Aircraft Maintenance functions. (To be creditable, specialized experience must meet the above quality level requirements).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: (1) Comprehensive and detailed knowledge of aircraft maintenance functions. (2) Knowledge of safety and security regulations, practices, and procedures. (3) Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors. (4) Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of one or more organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources. (5) Ability to communicate both orally and in writing.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
