This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are part of the regular career civil service and enjoy all the benefits granted to Federal employees in the competitive civil service. In addition, ARTs are required to maintain their active membership in the AF Reserve unit where assigned. ARTs receive on average one weekend of military training per month.
BASIC HOURLY RATE FOR THIS POSITION IS $26.88 TO $31.39
- Evaluates assigned personnel performance, documentation, and observable maintenance processes of electronic integrated systems, components, or subassemblies to assure compliance with technical and procedural directives.
- Serves as technical advisor and assistant to production work center managers in the resolution of electronic integrated systems quality problems.
- Participates in the QAP. Prepares written and computer generated reports of assessments, investigations and other correspondence.
- Prepares for, trains, and participates in the training of reservists and complies with safety requirements related to work environment and administers unit aircraft weight and balance program.
- Complies with safety requirements related to work environment.

QualificationsQUALIFICATION EXPERIENCE: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Ability to Do the Work of Electronic Integrated Systems Repair Inspector. (Screen-out Element)
2. Ability to read and interpret instructions, specifications, blueprints, and technical orders, related to aircraftelectronic integrated systems and components and to evaluate compliance, adequacy of repairs, and proper installation of parts and modifications.
3. Skill in using a variety of tools and electronic testing equipment required to perform assessments, e.g.,micrometers, torque wrenches, tension meters, feeler gages, dial indicators, magnifying glass, rig pin, flashlight.
4. Knowledge of safety requirements as outlined in applicable safety standards, instructions, regulations, and technical orders; knowledge of and practical application of Total Quality Management (TQM) principals and processes.Knowledge of quality principles such as process improvement and the Air Force Reserve Command TQM philosophy.
5. Knowledge of skill enhancement training requirements and ability to provide such training; skill and ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing; basic knowledge of and ability to use computers, software packages, local area network, and various G081 based programs.
6. Knowledge of material handling and storage; ability to maintain an organized work area and knowledge of aircraft basic ground handling procedures.
OTHER SIGNIFICANT FACTS:
1. This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. The incumbent is required to meet and maintain Air Force Reserve requirements. Work schedule will be aligned to allow incumbent to fully participate in unit training assemblies. The incumbent's regular assignments are ART duties; however, the incumbent may be assigned some non-ART duties, generally not to exceed 30 percent of total responsibilities.
2. May be subject to shift work and uncommon tours of duty. Performs other related duties as assigned.
3. May be required to fly in military or commercial aircraft during functional check flights and/or for temporary duty purposes.
4. This is a drug testing designated position (TDP). The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use.
FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Heavy lifting (45-79 pounds). Heavy carrying (45 pounds and over). Hours
of straight pulling are 1 hour/week. Hours of pushing are 1 hour/week. Reaching above shoulders. Use of fingers. Both hands required. Hours of walking are 8 hours/week. Hours of repeated bending are 4 hours/week. Hours of standing are 8 hours/week. Climbing, use of legs and arms. Both legs required. Operation of crane, truck, tractor, forklift, or motor vehicle. Ability for simultaneous rapid mental and muscular coordination. Near vision correctable at 13 inches to 16 to Jaeger 1 to 4. Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/20 and 20/40 in the other. Far vision correctable in one eye to 20/50 and 29/100 in the other. Both eyes required. Depth perception. Ability to distinguish shades of color. Hearing (aid permitted). Additional functional requirements include must wear prescribed safety equipment when required. If it can be otherwise accommodated, a specific physical condition or impairment will not automatically disqualify a candidate.

This is an Air Reserve Technician (ART) position. ARTs are eligible for 15 days active duty tour each year for which military leave is granted with full civilian pay. Air Reserve units and members; are subject to immediate call to active duty in mobilization to meet a national emergency.
