Intermittent Work Schedule: Work schedule does not have a set tour of duty, work is on-call and as needed. Hours of work are not guaranteed every pay period.
The Cancer Center provides not only Chemotherapy, blood and blood product administration and phlebotomy but also infusion therapies and treatments for other specialty clinics. The RN provides age-specific care for adults and geriatric patients/groups including the following elements: promotes independence; encourages self-care; involves family or designated caregiver with care planning, provides necessary safety measures and access to privacy; assists patient to cope with changes affecting mobility, balance, cognition, psychosocial function, and physical/sensory changes. Develops and implements plan of care; prioritizes care based on patient acuity and identified needs. Evaluates patient's response to care, documents ongoing assessment, plan of care and responses to interventions. Demonstrates knowledge and skills of principles of chemotherapy administration, chemotherapy management, chemotherapy related intravenous therapy skills and vascular access device management. Administers injections, chemotherapy medications and hydration. Performs and administers blood transfusions, blood products and phlebotomy. Anticipates emergencies, coordinates interventions and evaluates responses through critical analysis of patient systems/operational situations. The RN practices in a complex patient care setting in collaboration with colleagues and Nurse Manager. Accountable as assigned as a primary nurse or a team leader for defined group of patients on his/her shift or for an entire episode of care.
