This position is located in the Chicago Region in the Economic Development Administration (EDA), Department of Commerce (DOC). The EDA was established under the Public Works and Economic Development Act of 1965 to assist in stimulating industrial and commercial growth in economically distressed areas of the U.S. as a result of high unemployment, low per capita incomes or other severe economic distress.
The incumbent of this position functions as an Area Director for key programmatic positions encumbered by Economic Development Representatives, Economic Development Specialists, Civil Engineers, Environmentalist, Construction Project Managers, and other Subject Matter Experts (SME).
The initial and primary selection(s) of candidates referred to management will be used to fill vacancies in Economic Development Administration, Chicago Region. Thereafter, managers within the various business units of EDA may consider and utilize the certificate with the remaining referred candidates to fill vacancies within their business unit. The incumbent serves as the principal advisor to the Regional Director (SES) on the management and direction of major EDA regional programmatic and program support activities and issues. In this capacity, the incumbent, in consultation with the Regional Director:
