The National Caregiver Training Program Manager will provide leadership, guidance, and oversight for: the development of the national caregiver support training program; clinical evidence-based training and interventions for the caregiver; education and consultation services for the caregiver, and staff on caregiver issues; community outreach; resource development; continuous quality improvement activities; and the evaluation of caregiver training. In addition the incumbent must be a skilled communicator capable of developing effective partnerships with local, state and federal agencies as well as non-governmental organizations. The incumbent is administratively responsible for the oversight of the clinical programming and administrative operations of the program, as well as for the management of data and budget related to the program.
this position is responsible for development and overall implementation from a national, regional, and facility level of specific evidence- based family caregiver education, training, and support programs and training for VA staff with multi-mode availability (i.e. face-to-face, web, telephone, satellite) on caregiver support education and training interventions, and local caregiver support programming. The program manager will manage all contracts related to training and education in the caregiver support program. The program manager is responsible for establishing linkages and collaborate on VA caregiver support efforts with community healthcare and social service agencies at the national level. The incumbent is also administratively responsible and accountable for the clinical, administrative and program development and effectiveness of the Caregiver Support Training Program nationwide; therefore, the incumbent must possess advanced knowledge and understanding of the services and benefits available for caregivers from both federal, state, local and private sector resources.

Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- The development and management of training contracts and overall implementation of specific evidence-based family caregiver education, training, and support programs for caregivers and VA staff with multi-mode availability.
- Serving as program manager for all contracts related to training and education in the Caregiver Support Program.
- The regional development and oversight implementation of mandated training for VA staff and family caregivers which includes two parts:
1) Basic standardized core curriculum training across the VA that will be available classroom style or self-study through books, DVD, or on line, and
2) Caregiver training specific to the individual Veteran's care needs.
- The development and oversight of the implementation of VA staff training on caregiver issues, including training requirements, benefits, and services.
- Representing the National Caregiver Office and Care Management & Social Work Service as a national caregiver spokesperson including representation and presentations on a national level, VISN and local levels serving on task forces, work groups, committees, and other areas as identified.
- Building and maintaining a coordinated working relationship with Regional, VISN, and local CSCs, and national community partners and contractors.
- The development and oversight of on-going management of training initiatives, monitoring of the caregiver training program as outlined by law along with developing outcome measures and validation of completion of training reports for national reporting.
- The preparation of reports, briefings, congressional testimony and responses to national caregiver issues.
Work Schedule: 8:00am-4:30pm Mon-Fri.
