This position is located in the Office of Ship Operations, Office of the Deputy Associate Administrator for Federal Sealift, Office of the Associate Administrator for Strategic Sealift, Maritime Administration (MARAD). The mission of the Division Offices (Atlantic, Gulf, and Pacific) is to ensure that all of the Region's ship operations and maintenance programs (including commercial ship repair and alteration, maintenance, vessel operations, vessel layup, vessel reactivation, vessel husbanding, vessel mooring, vessel construction, logistics support, voyage repairs, subsidized repairs, ship sale requirements, mission readiness, operational reliability, ship manager oversight, contractor oversight, quality assurance, and customer satisfaction for all vessels assigned to the Region and the Reserve Fleet activities) are properly surveyed, planned, monitored, staffed, supervised, and executed. This custody operation includes security; preservation; maintenance; readiness assessment; and accountability of Government property, management of the budget, and procurement activities.
This position is established to serve as a primary managing field official for all ship operations, repair, conversion, and other industrial projects for assigned ships and/or projects.
The ideal candidate is a senior level individual with experience in the management of ship operations, repair, conversion, and industrial projects for assigned ships and/or projects.
