    This position is located in the Protection Directorate at the United States Mint, Denver, CO. The Protection Directorate safeguards the United States’ assets and artifacts including the nation’s gold supply, as well as its other precious metal reserves; protects United States Mint employees, visitors, equipment, facilities and other resources (including information); provides expert security advice and counsel to the United States Mint, other government agencies and foreign governments; and enforces Federal, State and local Laws.

    The following are the duties of this position at the TR-08. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

    • Protect dies, monetary, and bullion assets in the custody or control of the United States Mint during production, processing, storage, transportation, or other use; protect all facility space and property against theft, assault, sabotage; and protect United States Mint employees and visitors from threats or hazards of physical harm or injury, violence in the workplace, criminal acts such as assault or robbery, and acts of terrorism.
    • Apprehend, detain, and/or arrest persons considered extremely violent, mentally disturbed or intoxicated, and risk the ever present dangers of breaking and entering, trespassing occurrences on Federal property, armed robbery confrontations, and the protection of Federal officials and respective employees.
    • Perform patrol duties as deterrence to crime and other violations of laws, rules, and regulations.
