This position is part of the Plant Operations, Government Publishing Office in Washington , District of Columbia. As a Chemist, in the Testing and Technical Services Branch, the selectee serves in the laboratory to perform testing and analysis on a wide range of products used in the printing manufacturing industry, such as inks, toners, graphic ink, and paper products. The Testing and Technical Services Branch provides analytical information about raw materials used to manufacture a wide range of documents, and technical information about finished products.
The Selectee will work Shift 1 Monday- Friday and a Tour of Duty from 7:30 am - 4:00 pm.
The mission of the Testing and Technical Services Branch is to provide testing, analytical and consulting services to business units within the Government Publishing Office as well as to the Executive Branch agencies. As a laboratory, the unit provides analytical information about raw materials used to manufacture a wide range of documents, and technical information about finished products.

As aChemist, your typical work assignments may include the following:
TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants must meet time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. Applicants must have served 1 year at the next lower grade level or equivalent grade level of federal service to qualify for the - PG-09.

Background Investigation:
To ensure the accomplishment of its mission, the GPO requires every employee to be reliable and trustworthy.
