We are the Office of Inspector General within the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA). As required by the Inspector General Act of 1978, we conduct and supervise audits and investigations to detect and prevent waste, fraud, and abuse and promote economy, efficiency, and effectiveness in the administration of SBA programs and operations.
The SBA-OIG Pathways Internship Program is designed to attract students enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions (high school, home-school programs, vocational and technical, undergraduate and graduate) with paid opportunities to explore Federal careers while still in school. This Program exposes students to jobs in the Federal civil service by providing meaningful developmental work at the beginning of their careers, before their career paths are fully established. The flexible nature of the Program also accommodates the need to hire students to complete temporary work or projects, or to work traditional "summer jobs."
The ideal candidate for this position is pursuing a degree in a Criminal Justice, Government, Communication Studies, or other appropriate business programs. The student will perform a range of administrative support tasks while working as a member of the SBA-OIG Division.
This position is NTE 1 year, however, it may be extended without further competition based upon the needs of the agency.

Review and assess complaints and allegations received by the Investigations Division to determine investigative and/or prosecutive viability to ensure the effective use of agency resources. These allegations typically include criminal acts such as bribery, false statements, conspiracy, embezzlement and fraud.
Prepare reports of investigative interviews and activities. Document the Official Case Files (OCFs) and the Investigations Management Information System (IMIS) in accordance with policies set forth in the Special Agent Manual.
Ensure work products are in alignment with SBA OIG investigative priorities and in compliance with established 010 policies/procedures, PCIE standards, Attorney General Guidelines, and Peer Review Guidelines, e.g., ROls, MOIs, MOAs, use of investigative techniques, case management guidelines, etc.
Participate in regular meetings with the SAC, ASAC, and SAs to ensure full knowledge of investigative activities and related topics.
Provide quality administrative support to the SAC, ASAC and SAs.
