The incumbent serves as a Social Science Research Analyst in the Office of Evaluation and Inspections (OEI), Office of Inspector General (OIG), Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).
Works collaboratively as a member of one or more teams to conduct inspections of Medicare, Medicaid, and public health and human service programs. Specifically, incumbent develops inspection objectives and approaches; designs appropriate methodologies to collect data (e.g., interviews, questionnaires, site inspections); analyzes qualitative and quantitative data; and synthesizes and interprets data verbally and in writing. Incumbent also reviews designated materials which may include existing data and information on the program inspection topics, including GAO reports, OIG audits, investigations and inspection reports, other studies conducted within or outside the Department, and pending or recently enacted regulations or legislation.
Works with a project lead to identify appropriate study methodologies and techniques to be utilized in submitting proposed designs and conducting assigned studies. Incumbent is responsible for collecting data, conducting qualitative and quantitative program analysis, and evaluating this information to create findings and recommendations. Incumbent is also responsible for interpreting findings resulting from studies that are independently developed.
Analyzes and evaluates qualitative and quantitative data and employs advanced qualitative and quantitative techniques to analyze and measure the effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of organizational programs. Incumbent also adapts existing analytical methods and techniques to specific issues and develops new approaches to resolve complex productivity problems and issues.
Actively engaged in environmental research involving Medicare programs, Medicaid services, and public health and human service programs to identify potential areas for future studies and evaluations.
Assists managers and program officials in determining steps or actions to be taken to accomplish work in adherence to requirements.
