The Pathways Internship Program offers individuals who are current students with an opportunity to work and explore new careers. If selected to participate in an internship, you will be placed in a Student Trainee (IT Specialist) position as a GS-2299-5/7/9. The full performance level of the trainee position is a GS-2299-9.
Upon successful completion of your education and all program requirements you may be non-competitively converted to permanent or term appointment in the competitive service as an IT Specialist position at the GS-2210, 5/7/9/11/12 in the Information Technology Division. Conversion is not guaranteed or implied. In order to successfully complete the Pathways Internship Program, you must complete a minimum of 640 hours of work experience acquired through the program and successfully complete your course of academic study.
This is a 6 month roster announcement that will be used to fill positions IT-Wide throughout the next 6 months. We are projecting approximately 30 vacancies may be filled during the life of this roster. The following are the duties of a Student Trainee Information Technology Specialist at the GS-9. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position.
In this position, you will perform assigned aspects of routine, non-routine, and recurring assignments. Examples of the duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study or 18 semester hours. Half-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended.
You must meet the definition of a student. A student is defined as an individual accepted for enrollment or enrolled and seeking a degree (high school, college (4-year colleges/universities, community colleges, and junior colleges); professional, technical, vocational, and trade school; advanced degree programs; or other qualifying educational institution pursuing a qualifying degree or certificate) in a qualifying and accredited educational institution, on a full or half-time basis (as defined by the institution in which the student is enrolled), including awardees of the Harry S. Truman Foundation Scholarship Program under Public Law 93–842. Students need not be in actual physical attendance, so long as all other requirements are met. An individual who needs to complete less than the equivalent of half an academic/vocational or technical course-load immediately prior to graduating is still considered a student for purposes of this Program.
A certificate program requires you to be enrolled in a post-secondary educational program, in a qualifying educational institution, equivalent to at least one full-time academic year of study, that is part of an accredited college-level, technical, trade, vocational or business school curriculum.
