This position is located in the Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau (TTB), Office of Assistant Administrator, Headquarters Operations, Scientific Services Division (SSD), Laboratory as assigned. TTB’s mission is to collect the taxes on alcohol, tobacco, firearms and ammunition, protect the consumer by ensuring the integrity of alcohol products, and prevent unfair and unlawful market activity for alcohol and tobacco products.
As a Chemist (Program Coordinator) you will:
-Perform examinations on samples and/or formulas of regulated commodities, including the most complex, new, and/or unusual examinations without technical guidance, using scientifically sound and applicable procedures, and provide expert level regulatory interpretation of analytical data.
-Respond or coordinate responses to inquiries to the laboratory on technical matters by TTB offices and/or industry.
-Manage daily activities of the laboratory to ensure efficient and timely delivery of its work products.
-Lead in the formulation, guidance, and implementation of technology and innovation in order to enhance and streamline processes.
-Train, coach, guide, and mentor junior chemists and technicians in their technical duties and serves as final reviewer for the analytical work of the laboratory group.
