The OIG arranges, directs, and conducts inspections, investigations, audits, and special inquiries in offices, bureaus, missions, and overseas posts of these agencies. It conducts independent assessments of how effectively U.S. foreign policy is being implemented and how the interests of the United States are being represented overseas. It also assesses the efficiency and economy of DOS and BBG activities and operations, security standards, and intelligence operations. It coordinates and leads inquiries into allegations of fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement.
The incumbent of this position will serve as the Assistant Inspector General for Evaluations and Special Projects (AIG for ESP) and is responsible for managing complex and sensitive cases that involve matters such as misconduct by high-level Department and BBG employees.

As the head of the office, the AIG serves as senior advisor to the Inspector General and DIG on all matters involving evaluations and special projects and is responsible for planning, initiating, developing, and overseeing ESP policies, procedures, and techniques. The executive ensures compliance with all applicable professional standards, including those developed CIGIE.
The incumbent will:

An Executive Review Board (ERB) and Review Panel (RP) consisting of senior officials will rate applicants based on the quality and extent of total accomplishments, experience and education. Among the factors the ERB and RP will consider in determining the applicant's relative capacity and fitness for the position are education, training, experience and demonstrated executive level qualifications.
