    The engineering office has multiple roles at the BEP; implementing new equipment, resolving production problems, and developing new sensor systems to verify the quality and functionality of the product. The incumbent is an experienced mechanical engineer responsible for specifying and implementing high speed equipment in BEP factories for US currency production.

    The following are the duties of this position at the GS-13. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties, and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

    -Develop technical/performance specifications for new equipment based on analysis of projected currency orders, current equipment age, factory process flow and the requirement for new production processes.

    -Test all acquired or internally developed equipment placed in the factory. The testing may occur internally or at vendor sites to verify readiness of the machines for production. Test plan development and execution, analysis of results, and documentation of results, conclusions, and recommendations is required.

    -Design electro-mechanical systems to resolve production process and quality issues. The solutions may require software/hardware integration, testing, and documentation of procedures for use and maintenance.

    Travel Required

    25% or less - 01 to 05 Nights per month.
