    About the Position:
    This Assistant Program Manager (Acquisition), NH-03430-03 position is located in the Program Executive Office, Soldier (PEO Soldier) at Fort Belvoir, VA.
    This position is being filled under the Expedited Hiring Authority (EHA) for Defense Acquisition Workforce Positions in accordance with 10 USC §1705(g).

    This is a DoD Demonstration Project position. Under the Defense Authorization Act, personnel management demonstration programs are operating in numerous Army activities and various other organizations supported by Army civilian personnel centers. Under the streamlined personnel operations for demonstration projects, the familiar 15 General Schedule grade structure is replaced with broad pay bands that typically encompass a range of grades. For example, acquisition jobs in level NH-III of broad banding encompass the traditional GS-12 through GS-13 grades. Other initiatives under the demonstration projects include simplified classification, streamlined hiring process, and expanded developmental opportunities.

    Responsibilities

    Serves as Assistant Program Manager responsible for managing new systems through advanced development, production and fielding; or fielded systems undergoing extensive modification, retrofit, or rebuild; or specified categories of critical problem issues associated with one or more fielded systems. For assigned system(s), manages engineering, procurement, production, budgeting, integrated logistics support, testing, configuration management, product improvement, fielding, and readiness monitoring to provide a balanced, expedited, economical and effective system for accomplishing the assigned mission. Assures interface and coordination of all actions with other Government agencies and other organization elements. Directs the work of specialists within the office and, through functional managers, the activities of matrix support specialists. Position requires management and executive ability and thorough knowledge of the wide range of technical and business specialties used to plan and direct a systems acquisition program.
