This position is located in the Veterans Benefits Administration (VBA), Benefit Assistance Service (BAS), Military to Civilian Transition team located in Washington, D.C. BAS facilitates outreach, web/social media communication, and public contact services across the administration; oversees transition assistance; and ensures quality and training for the VBA employees who engage with Service members, Veterans and their families through client services such as the National Call Center. The Military to Civilian Transition area is responsible for promoting, enabling, and delivering seamless and integrated MCT support to over 226k transitioning Service members per year delivered at over 300 military installations (including United States Coast Guard) worldwide through the support of approximately 300 trained VA Benefits Advisors (BA). BA responsibilities include delivering the mandatory VA Benefits Briefings, Capstone and MLC events and briefings, and providing individual assistance to transitioning Service members upon request.
The incumbent serves as the first-line supervisor for one of the following teams within MCT the Transition Assistance Program (TAP): (1) Governance; (2) TAP Operations. As the subject matter expert, the incumbent serves in a confidential and close working relationship with the Assistant Directors, Deputy Director and Director, BAS. Serves as a consultant to senior level VBA management on the more complex and difficult issues associated with policies and programs as they related to administrative operations as well as the delivery of benefits and services to transitioning Service members and Veterans.
Work Schedule: Standard 5 day, 8 hour, full time (40 hours a week) schedule; actual times to be determined.
