About the Position: This position will be in the adolescent partial hospitalization program within Fort Belvoir Community Hospital. The applicant can expect to provide coverage as needed within the directorate to include outpatient/inpatient clinics. The successful applicant will service the academic needs of children/adolescents within those settings. The applicant will work as part of multi-disciplinary team comprised of social workers, nurses, psychiatrists, psychologists, and psychology technicians.

You will serve as a professional teacher certified in the areas of Emotional Disturbance and Specific Learning Disabilities to assist psychiatrically ill students with emotional and possible learning disabilities at the Child and Adolescent Partial Hospitalization Program (CAPH) at the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) to achieve and/or maintain the appropriate development of educational skills and mastery of knowledge by developing and conducting subject matter of varying grade level(s) instruction for students age 12-18, in three different state level School systems. You will independently plan, develop, and organize long-range non-traditional lesson plans, and design course work. Assist in the development of 504 plans and participating and assisting in the development of the Individualized Educational Plan (IEP). Conduct classroom instruction using modern professional teaching principles, practices and techniques appropriate to the subject matter, grade levels(s) of assignment, and related disability of the student (e.g. learning disabled, emotionally disabled, difficulties with executive functioning). Develop both short and long term academic goals for individualized patients in care and engages them in activities to restore and enhance their performance and potential for success. Counsel students and their families on their progress in meeting the goals and objectives established for the class.
