    About the Position:
    Position(s) will be filled under the Direct Hire Authority for Recent Graduates. Click here for more information on Pathways program participation. After Program completion, Department of the Army Recent Graduates MAY be converted to a permanent position or to a term position (a project-based term of employment lasting between one and four years).

    Applicants can be selected at either the GS-09 or GS-11 level. The target grade of this position is GS-12.

    To be eligible for conversion to a permanent or term position, Recent Graduates must:

    • Be a U.S. Citizen
    • Successfully complete all the requirements of the Recent Graduate Program as defined in the Agency Participant Agreement.
    • Demonstrate successful job performance.
    • Meet the Office of Personnel Management qualification standard including any applicable positive education requirements and/or selection placement factors and any other designated special qualifications requirements and conditions of employment (e.g. medical standards) appropriate for the position to which being converted.

    Who May Apply:
    Positions are open to:
    • Recent graduates who have completed, within the previous two years, a qualifying associates, bachelors, masters, professional, doctorate, vocational or technical degree or certificate from a qualifying educational institution. Short-term training programs (e.g. several two-week programs completed) are not considered an academic course of study.
    • Current students who will graduate no later than 6 months.
    • Preference eligible veterans who were precluded from applying due to their military service obligation begin their two-year eligibility period upon release or discharge from active duty. Eligibility for these veterans cannot exceed six years after degree or certificate completion.

    This position will be filled at the GS-09 or GS-11 grade level. It is developmental, leading to a target grade of GS-12. Upon meeting all regulatory and performance requirements, the incumbent may be promoted non-competitively to the target grade of GS-12.As a trainee, you will work under closer than normal supervision with assignments selected to broaden skills and provide for progressively more complex assignments. You will perform duties as an incident handler for USACE, ACE-IT for all computer incidents from discovery/detection, isolation, recovery/ remediation, root cause analysis by following prescribed standard operating procedures. You will participate in assessing the success of attacks, analyzing and exploiting vulnerabilities using tools, processes, and techniques designed to provide fact-based analysis to other stakeholders in the vulnerability disclosure process.
    As a developmental IT SPECIALIST (INFOSEC), you will assist in performing duties such as:

    • Monitor the Security Event and Incident Management (SEIM) and other enterprise tools for indications of a potential intrusion or violation
    • Implement or recommend solutions for the isolation of the system(s) involved, oversee the eradication and recovery of the affected systems, and ensure the timely and accurate upward reporting.
    • Identify the root-cause of incidents and recommend/implement the necessary changes to ensure enterprise correction of misconfigurations and vulnerabilities.
    • Performs computer network defense (CND) incident triage, to include determining scope, urgency, and potential impact.
    • Research and recommend new tools, processes, and techniques to discover, mitigate, or correct vulnerabilities in support of stakeholders utilizing enterprise, defense-in-depth risk management.
