The incumbent serves as an architect with responsibility for the development of architectural and structural phases of construction projects, plans, design specifications or estimates concerned with facility and building utilization throughout the agency.
- Manages the design, construction, and project management for multiple projects for Bureau locations nationwide; plans, organizes, coordinates and executes the many tasks which includes the planning, design, and construction of these projects; integrates the Branch’s strategic plan into the team’s strategies, goals, objectives, work plans and work products.
- Prepares design intent drawings, working drawings and diagrammatic sketches which translate facility requirements into plans, elevations, sections and details showing the design, location and dimensions of the various elements of the structure and the quantity and kinds of material t Performs feasibility studies regarding the costs, material, equipment placement and utilization, relating to the architectural phases of proposed projects.

QualificationsTo qualify for this position, you must meet one of the basic requirements and one of the additional qualification requirements listed below.
Degree: architecture; or a related field that included 60 semester hours of course work in architecture or related disciplines of which at least (1) 30 semester hours were in architectural design, and (2) Six semester hours were in each of the following: structural technology, properties of materials and methods of construction, and environmental control systems.
Combination of education and experience: college-level education, training, and/or technical experience that furnished: (1) a thorough knowledge of the arts and sciences underlying professional architecture, and (2) a good understanding, both theoretical and practical, of the architectural principles, methods, and techniques and their applications to the design and construction or improvement of buildings. The adequacy of such background must be demonstrated by related curriculum or experience as defined in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) General Schedule Qualification Standards.
