The Optometrist provides comprehensive eye and vision care services to eligible veterans in a clinic or on inpatient wards during scheduled business hours. This includes but is not limited to refractive correction of vision, treatment of eye diseases and disorders that are within the scope of the Optometrist's clinical privileges, and rehabilitative care. Additional duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Provide comprehensive vision care services, including diagnosis and management of optical disorders and ocular disease for patients age 18-100
Computerized patient record documentation
Completion of facility assigned learning requirements
Provide or refer for Ophthalmology services, and vision rehabilitation services when indicated
Mentor and provide clinical training to Optometry students and residents
Liaison effectively with Ophthalmology and medical specialists to coordinate care of systemic eye conditions
Participate in Optometric administrative activities, quality improvement processes, and other designated duties as assigned
Create and maintain a patient-centered care environment.
Respectfully and Effectively work with all staff to implement the organization's mission and goals.
Work Schedule: We are currently seeking applicants for a full-time work schedule
Clinic hours are Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and some weekends may be required. Optometrists are continuously subject to call unless officially excused by proper authority.

Optometrists must have color vision correctable to 20/20 and 20/40 vision, hear easily, lift and carry up to 44 pounds with use of both hands, and be able to stand for extended periods of time.
