Reclamation is seeking an entry-level Intern-indefinite looking for an opportunity to gain practical experience as a Civil Engineering trainee. You can make a difference in the West by assisting in meeting increasing water demands while protecting the environment.
This position is expected to be converted to a Civil Engineer position (GS-0810) at the GS-05 grade level, which may have further promotion potential (see Education and Requirements sections).
This is a career development opportunity in the excepted service under the Bureau of Reclamation's Pathways Internship Program. It is designed to provide students, who are currently enrolled in a wide variety of educational institutions, with opportunities to work and get paid while exploring federal careers.

This Pathways Internship is a Regional Leadership Board sponsored, rotational internship. Rotational interns will be stationed at different locations within the Great Plains (GP) Region each summer in the states of Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Texas, or Wyoming. Students are required to be mobile for summer assignments and upon graduation. Rotational assignments are intended to last for a minimum of 2 summers before the student graduates.
Summer 2018 Position Locations: Mills, Wyoming and Billings, Montana. Work will be performed in and around these areas. You must be able to report to locations for duty no later than May 29, 2018, in order to be eligible for this job opportunity.

Individuals serving in Intern-indefinite appointments may be noncompetitively converted to a permanent position within 120 days of successful completion of the program, but conversion is neither promised nor guaranteed. - Complete at least 640 hours of trainee work experience under the Internship Program
- Complete a Bachelor's degree with a major field of study in Civil Engineering

* Failure to sign or comply with the Pathways Program Participant Agreement may be grounds for withdrawal of an offer of employment or dismissal after appointment. The Participant Agreement spells out the requirements of the program, including an anticipated date for completing educational requirements of the trainee position's full performance grade level.
