    The Office of the CIO provides leadership, planning, policy direction, and oversight for the management of NASA information and all NASA information technology (IT) in accordance with the responsibilities required by the Clinger-Cohen Act of 1996, the paperwork Reduction Act of 1995, the E-Government Act of 2002, the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) of 2002, and the Privacy Act of 1974. The CIO is the senior Agency advisor on all matters pertaining to management of IT, the NASA Enterprise Architecture, and IT Security.

    You will serve as a Program Executive and will be responsible for the Communications Program (CP) and is
    the IT Program Authority for the Communications suite of projects and capabilities. In addition, the incumbent will develop policies, guidelines, and standards for the planning, development, integration, implementation, and evaluation of IT systems and subsystems that meet overall information needs of multiple organizational units.

    You will be responsible for three major components of the program objectives, reviewing performance measures and following through on expected outcomes. This includes objectives that involve strategic and tactical demands involved with data sharing across the Agency, collaborating with multiple departments to keep the Agency’s communication infrastructure as cost-efficient and reliable as possible, and providing seamless communications across centers in regards to planning and investment procedures.

    You will plan and manage agency-wide IT programs and projects involving innovative concepts or approaches where precedents do not exist, and large numbers of people or multiple agencies are affected.

    You will integrate configuration management, information technology architecture, infrastructure design, and systems integration aspects into IT program and project plans. Ensure that all aspects of the project are aligned with the government-wide enterprise architecture and takes future infrastructure requirements into account.

    You will provide first-line communications including problem determination and problem resolution. Make recommendations for resolving information technology (IT) issues and requirements, implements key processes and follows through to completion. Keep abreast of changing and emerging technology to ensure NASA adapts to the ever-changing technological environment, including associated risks and security hazards.
