This position is with the Justice Management Division, Facilities and Administrative Services Staff (FASS), Justice Building Services, Construction Services Unit. The incumbent is supervised by the Maintenance Mechanic Supervisor and functions mostly at Robert F. Kennedy Main Justice Building (RFK).
This position has two shifts.
Day shift: 6:30 am - 3:30 pm
Mid-Day shift: 2:30 pm - 11:00 pm

-Maintain a variety of commercial and industrial systems in order to locate and check elements such as those which control low side and high side pressure, the temperature of the cooling units, the temperatures of the liquid and suction lines, and the running time of the various mechanisms.
-Examine complex air conditioning systems in order to troubleshoot, locate and repair faulty equipment such as compressors, reciprocating, centrifugal, or rotary pump, and a variety of refrigerant controls.
-Make visual, audible and mechanical checks for the proper temperature of conditioned spaces; the proper operation of different parts of the cycle; proper oil levels; unusual noises; overheated bearings; loose connections; faulty insulations; frayed or loose belts; gaskets and pulleys, and other similar defects.
-Maintain knowledge of the purposes and locations of all equipment in the systems, as well as auxiliary equipment such as fans, water pumps, and air compressors.
-Starts, operates, adjusts, and stops various types of equipment, including associated auxiliary and pollution control equipment.
