    Summary

    The Safety and Mission Assurance Directorate (S&MA), Management Systems Branch (Code 382) is seeking a responsible Engineer with expert working knowledge of quality standards and processes to conduct and lead internal audits to develop and/or manage a comprehensive process to track mission assurance issues across all Goddard Space Flight Center projects and to guide the management and actions of the Management System Committee.

    Responsibilities

    As an Aerospace Engineer specializing in Safety and Mission Assurance you will lead internal audits, external and Agency audit teams and play a vital role in maintaining the Center's ISO registration. You will conduct formal visits to contractors' plants, universities and/or launch sites to review quality assurance. You will as required lead and perform supplier assessments.

    You will lead a management system, make continuous improvement efforts, and provide value-added service support across GSFC and at HQ representing GSFC at inter-Center and inter-Agency functions associated with ISO 9001 or AS9100 interpretation, implementation, coordination and registration. You will coordinate the Center's internal audit process to assure implementation of approved quality management system policy, procedures and work instructions, teach root cause analysis, and coordinate the correction and prevention of deficiencies.

    You will establish, maintain, and evaluate quality assurance programs through all phases of aeronautical and aerospace systems, launch vehicles, and associated ground support equipment. You will perform engineering analysis, testing, and quality assurance functions from design through flight operations with the objective of developing and measuring the system reliability. You will work closely with NASA Directors and Managers performing aerospace systems engineering analysis to hardware and software to establish technical risk for areas of requirements noncompliance or other identified concerns.
