This position is located in the Northern Region on the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest, Supervisor's Office in Kamiah, Idaho.
The incumbent serves as the Forest's Aquatics Program Manager responsible for planning and implementation of fish habitat and watershed restoration projects, providing program oversight (technical and administrative), target reporting, developing and maintaining partnerships, serving as a lead for Endangered Species Act (ESA) consultations, and as a member of Interagency and Interdisciplinary teams.

Provides advice to the Forest Supervisor, District Rangers, and their staffs on controversial issues and difficult problems involving fisheries management (including threatened, endangered, and sensitive species. Provides overall contact and coordination with the Forest Service Regional Office on the fishery programs and monitoring efforts on the Forest.
Provides leadership for program planning and budgeting for assigned resource management. Oversees budgets for current fiscal year and plans for out-year funding needs within assigned area of responsibility.
Provides program leadership for all fisheries (including threatened, endangered, and sensitive species) resources and management activities on the Forest.
Incorporates information from the Endangered Species Act and associated regulations, recovery plans, conservation strategies, management plans, and habitat requirements for threatened, endangered, and sensitive aquatic species into Forest programs, plans, budgets, and direction.
Recognizes sensitive and controversial issues and management concerns and develops possible solutions or responses by incorporating legal and policy direction, standards and guidelines, and current, applicable research, information, and data.
Develops technical and non-technical guidelines, directives, and methods, and offers leadership for integrating habitat needs into all land and resource programs.
Reviews functional programs to ensure that they are consistent with policies, strategies, and program emphasis in approved land management plans.
As an interdisciplinary planning team member, identifies issues and management concerns and collects and interprets resource data.
Directs the collection and interpretation of fishery habitat data.
Performs supervisory duties 20% or less of the time. Plans the work to be accomplished by the unit, assigns work to employees, and establishes production or quality standards for the unit’s work.
