The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), U.S. Department of Justice, is seeking an experienced attorney to work in the Office of Chief Counsel, Diversion and Regulatory Policy Section, DEA Headquarters, located in Arlington, Virginia.
The attorney will be primarily responsible for serving as legal advisor on all issues related to the diversion of controlled substances and listed chemicals into illegitimate channels. Responsibilities will include all regulatory issues arising under the Controlled Substances Act (CSA), including drug and chemical control, drug scheduling actions, and quotas, with a focus on utilizing relevant CSA tools to combat the current opioid epidemic. The attorney will review and provide legal advice on relevant legislative proposals, agency correspondence with the regulated industry, and related agency policies. Additionally, the attorney will review all rules and regulations affecting the legitimate handling of controlled substances and listed chemicals, and evaluate them for compliance with the requirements of federal statutes including the CSA and the Administrative Procedure Act.
