    The mission of IMLS is to advance, support, and empower America's museums, libraries, and related organizations through grantmaking, research, and policy development.

    This is the position of an expert grants specialist in the Office of Library Services (OLS), State Programs. The incumbent carries substantial responsibility for direction and administration of the assigned grant portfolio.

    This senior position is responsible for managing various assigned grant projects and/or services. The incumbent is expected to review and monitor major submissions of plans, reports and evaluations to ensure that all technical compliance criteria have been met; design and provide training opportunities to acquaint grantees and others with statutory, regulatory, and administrative requirements for grants; build and maintain a substantial network of professional contacts in relevant library communities; identify and share LSTA funding patterns and exemplary projects and innovative practices; have responsibility for developing and presenting proposals for changes in agency policies relating to the grant program; and carry out responsibilities of equivalent scope in administration of a key grant program.

    The incumbent is required to represent the agency and/or the program in a range of activities designed to spread information about the grants, the agency, and the procedures widely among the institutions impacted by the grant program. One attends conferences, meetings, and other convenings of the library communities involved; makes presentations as a representative of the agency; contacts State Library Administrative Agencies (SLAAs) to establish or maintain relationships with SLAA staff and others to increase their awareness with the grant program including legislative, regulatory, and administrative requirements

    • Technical training and oversight for internal and external stakeholders
    • Grantee compliance oversight
    • Post-award assessments and evaluations
    • Other duties as assigned
