    The Area of Consideration for this vacancy announcement is within the commuting area of Aberdeen Proving Ground. NOTE: Local commuting area is defined as a radius of 50 miles; in addition to, you are considered eligible if one of the following applies: you live outside of this radius and are able to commute to work on a daily/as needed basis or you are able to relocate yourself on your own expenses (must be able to be present for work within 2 weeks of selection), you are a military spouse in the process of relocating to this installation and are within 30 days of moving, or you are an involuntarily separated military member.

    This position has various vacancies located at the Child Development Center (Aberdeen, Bayside and Edgewood) and the Youth Center (Aberdeen and Edgewood), Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.

    Responsibilities

    DUTIES FOR ENTRY LEVEL:
    This is a developmental assignment to Target position Child and Youth Program Assistant (Target Level-4), CY-1702-02, Job #19889. Serves as a Child and Youth Program Assistant (CYPA) in one or more CYS programs. Maintains control of and accounts for whereabouts and safety of children and youth. Assists in providing and leading planned activities for program participants. Helps establish a program environment that promotes positive child and youth interactions with other children, youth and adults. Helps prepare, arrange, and maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials to accommodate daily schedule. Uses prepared curriculum/program materials and assists with developing a list of needed supplies and equipment.

    DUTIES FOR SKILL LEVEL:
    This is a developmental position leading to Child and Youth Program Assistant (Target Level-4) Job #19890 Serves as a Child and Youth Program Assistant (CYPA) in one or more CYS programs. Maintains control of and accounts for whereabouts and safety of children and youth. Assists in planning, coordinating and conducting activities for program participants, including group as well as individual child activities. Establishes a program environment that sustains participant interest and promotes positive child and youth interactions with other children, youth and adults. Helps prepare, arrange, and maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials to accommodate daily schedule. Assists children and youth with special projects and homework. Participates in conferences with parents and staff. Reviews and implements daily schedules and activity plans to ensure age/stage appropriateness. Sets up displays and bulletin boards.

    DUTIES FOR TARGET LEVEL:
    Serves as a Child and Youth Program Assistant (CYPA) in one or more CYS programs. Maintains control of and accounts for whereabouts and safety of children and youth. Plans, coordinates, and conducts activities for program participants based on observed needs of individual children/youth. Implements activities and special events that meet the physical, social, emotional and cognitive needs of children and youth. Establishes a program environment that sustains participant interest and promotes positive interactions with other children, youth and adults. Helps prepare, arrange, and maintain indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials to accommodate daily schedule. Assists children and youth with special projects, homework and life skills. Prepares and implements program options for children and youth with special requirements. Reviews, provides input to, and implements schedules and activity plans. Demonstrates, instructs, leads and facilitates planned and spontaneous program activities. Sets up displays and bulletin boards.
