    Summary

    Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission. They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations. The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

    This position is being filled under the Expedited Hiring Authority for Shortage Category and/or Critical Need Health Care Occupations.

    These positions are located at Tripler Army Medical Center, Honolulu, HI.

    Federal employees in Hawaii are currently entitled to receive a 10.99% Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) in addition to the base salary. This is subject to change.

    Responsibilities

    As a Nursing Assistant, you will perform duties such as:

    • Provide activities of daily living for all patients to include but not limited to: bathing, changing clothes, changing linen, oral care, hair and skin care, shaving, bowel elimination assistance, foley care, wound care, back rubs, lotion application, compression sleeve application, dressing changes, taking and recording of vital signs, hourly outputs, and point of care testing.
    • Perform daily calibrations and quality controls on all point of care laboratory equipment and record values as required.
    • Transport patients in the assigned units to and from radiology, cath lab, interventional radiology, and other trips off of the respective unit/ward/clinic, helps to monitor the patient and alerting the care provider of any and all patient vital sign and cognition changes.
    • Provide nursing support as the unit ward clerk to include, but not limited to: answering phones, answering and sending faxes, paging people as needed, transferring and admitting patients to and from the critical care section, ordering office supplies, stocking paper in all printers and fax machines, making copies, scanning all consent forms and other documents into patients' charts, maintain the hard copy of patients' charts, etc.
