What General Information Do I Need To Know About This Position?
This is a term appointment for which all qualified applicants with or without Federal status may apply and be considered. Appointment to this position, however, will not convey permanent status in the Federal service and will be for a period not to exceed 13 months with possible extensions up to a total of 4 years without further competition.
Salary: $44,857 (Step 01) to $58,313 (Step 10); NOTE: First time hires to the Federal Government are typically hired at the Step 01.
There is one vacancy; however, this announcement may be used to fill additional vacancies if they become available.
As an Information Technology Specialist within the Washington Water Science Center (WAWSC), some of your specific duties will include:
-Provide assistance to staff in using various computer equipment and software.
-Perform developmental programming, system analysis, network and/or equipment installation and maintenance assignments.
-Install new and revised commercial off-the-shelf software packages.
-Peform basic configuration of microcomputers to interface with existing LAN and mainframe computers.
-Code or modify software modulars or scripts.
-Operates a government motor vehicle as an incidental driver.
Occasional travel - Overnight travel of 1-5 nights per month may be required.
