The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) manages the exploration and development of the nation's offshore resources. It seeks to appropriately balance economic development, energy independence, and environmental protection through oil and gas leases, renewable energy development and environmental reviews and studies. The Office of Strategic Resources (OSR) manages ocean energy and mineral resources of the Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) by balancing expeditious and orderly development with environmental and safety concerns. OSR is responsible for the development and implementation of the Five Year OCS Oil and Natural Gas Leasing Program, oversees the assessment and inventory of oil, gas, and other mineral resources, conveys access to marine minerals, maintains official maps and geographic data, conducts economic evaluations to ensure the receipt of fair market value for OCS leases, and leads efforts to identify and mitigate the financial risks associated with offshore lease activities.
This position serves as supervisor of the Leasing Division. The position has bureau wide organizational responsibility for review and creation of policy, guidance, direction and oversight of activities related to the leasing program on the Outer Continental Shelf.
BOEM has determined that the duties of this position are suitable for situational telework and the selectee may be allowed to telework with supervisor approval.
Salary Range Information: GS-15: $131,767 - $161,900
