This is a Senior Research Fellow position in the Center for the Study of Weapons of Mass Destruction (CSWMD) within the Institute for National Strategic Studies (INSS) at the National Defense University (NDU).
The mission of INSS is to conduct research in support of the academic and leader development programs at NDU, and to provide strategic support to the Secretary of Defense, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and the Unified Combatant Commands. INSS includes the following Centers: the Center for Strategic Research, the Center for the Study of Chinese Military Affairs, the Center for Complex Operations the Center for the Study of Weapons of Mass Destruction, and the National Defense University Press.
The mission of CSWMD is to prepare the joint warfighter and national security professionals to address the challenges posed by weapons of mass destruction (WMD) through education and professional development, scholarship and direct support, and outreach and collaboration activities across the full spectrum of WMD issues and to become one of the preeminent institutions in the United States for WMD expertise. CSWMD has been designated by the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff, as the focal point for WMD education in the Department of Defense's Joint Professional Military Education (JPME) system.
NDU develops joint warfighters and other national security leaders through rigorous academics, research and engagement to serve the common defense.
This is a Title 10 Excepted Service Appointment. Appointment is not to exceed 3 years with the possibility for extension.
