    Summary

    The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) is a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) agency. DLA provides worldwide logistics support for the missions of the Military Departments and the Unified Combatant Commands under conditions of peace and war. It also provides logistics support to other DoD Components and certain Federal agencies, foreign governments, international organizations, and others as authorized.

    Responsibilities

    As a Contract Specialist GS-1102-07 with DLA Troop Support and DLA Land and Maritime, the selected applicant(s) will serve as an entry level intern in the DLA Pathways to Career Excellence (PaCE) Program performing a series of progressively more responsible Contract Specialist functions, along with formal and on-the-job training (OJT).

    As a Contract Specialist GS-1102-07 your duties generally will be performed under the guidance of a higher graded specialist or supervisor and will include, but may not be limited to:

    • Procuring items awarded through formal advertising and/or through use of negotiation techniques;
    • Reviewing requisitions to determine that proper specifications or purchase descriptions are included in solicitation documents;
    • Considering financial responsibility of suppliers by evaluating contract performance on previous contracts;
    • Reviewing solicitations and amendments for adequacy and completeness; and,
    • Monitoring vendor performance for compliance with terms and conditions of the award.

    ABOUT THE POSITION:  This is an Acquisition, Technology & Logistics (AT&L) Workforce Position in the Contracting Career Field.  The incumbent will be required to become certified at Level I for position advertised at GS-05 and 7, Level II for positions advertised at GS-9, 11 and 12, and Level III for positions advertised at GS-13 and higher in  the applicable career field within 24 months, unless a Position Requirements Waiver is approved to extend the 24 months.  AT&L position requirements will be used in the evaluation criteria.
