NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment. Applicants who are not currently a member of the National Guard must be eligible for immediate membership and employment in the National Guard in the military grade listed in this announcement.
AREA OF CONSIDERATION: This position is in the Excepted Federal Civil Service "under the authority of 32 U.S.C. 709", and is open to Category 1: All permanent/indefinite military technicians in the Florida Air National Guard; Category 2: All current military members of the Florida Air National Guard; and Category 3: All individuals who qualify for membership in the Florida Air National Guard.
INDEFINITE APPOINTMENT: This is an obligated position. This position will be filled as an excepted indefinite appointment for an unspecified period of time not to exceed 8 October 2021. The incumbent may be terminated at any time within this period upon a 30-day notice. If an individual employed in the excepted civil service accepts this position, he/she will receive an indefinite appointment. If a Reduction-In-Force occurs and/or the military tour member reclaims this position, the indefinite appointee will have no reemployment rights to his/her former position or any other position. If the military tour member, having reemployment rights to this position, does not exercise his/her rights within 5 years, this position may be converted to a permanent status without further competition.
As a SECURITY OFFICER, GS-0080-12, you will serve as the Wing Commander's principal advisor in all law enforcement and physical security matters. Enforce federal and assimilated state criminal and traffic laws, applicable regulations and administrative policies. Provide protection at the air base against possible theft, unauthorized entry, espionage, sabotage, and subversion from both internal and external threats. Serve as the Wing Anti-Terrorism/Force Protection Officer. Plan, schedule, control, and direct all unit functions. Plan and advise on security and law enforcement issues. Perform a variety of Defense Force Commander and supervisory functions to include assigning work to subordinates. Serve as the highest technical authority in regard to security for the wing.
