As an Information Technology Specialist you will be knowledgeable in the field of IT security, providing authoritative guidance to resolve the most challenging problems of national or international scope and impact. You will serve as the division’s Computer Security Official (CSO) and manage the Mechanical Systems Division (MSD) LAN/IT resources. This activity involves configuration control relating to both hardware and software; asset management; software licensing requirements; compliance with federally mandated IT standards; management of the full range of IT security issues including access vulnerability, virus protection, security of proposal development activities, protection of proprietary data, and physical equipment security; and resolution of critical management of operational reliability problems. You will develop and maintain a NIST SP 800-53 compliant Security Plan for the Spacecraft Test Complex (STC), and execute the plan. You will ensure security controls are kept current with the latest requirements. You will address security incidents in accordance with policy, with all cognizant authorities notified in a timely fashion.
You will define and implement IT projects including task planning, projecting manpower and funding resource requirements, making budget estimates, setting up project milestones, developing procurement plans, and monitoring and directing work. You will lead and carry the development and deployment of engineering tools and techniques to meet the needs of mechanical computer aided design, mechanical computer aided design, mechanical computer aided engineering, structural analysis, thermal design and analysis, contamination analysis, computer aided manufacturing, and environmental testing data systems. You will serve as an authoritative source of information for decisions and guidance concerning all matters of IT and IT security. You will provide IT expertise to the MSD by specifying and/or designing, testing, deploying, and maintaining software and hardware systems. You will identify and infuse new IT technologies to ensure that the MSD infrastructure is fully capable of supporting the mission with its emphasis on state-of-the-art technology development, engineering, fabrication, and testing. You will lead MSD activities associated with the development and operation of NASA end user IT service provider and MSD IT resources and services. You will charter and oversee special working groups as required to address specific engineering hardware and software issues. You will be responsible for architecting, developing, and maintaining reliable IT data back-up systems for archiving design and analysis data generated by Division personnel for flight projects. You will serve as the Alternate Technical Representative (ATR) or task monitor for the contract personnel that provide IT support to the division.
