    The assigned duties would include functioning as a clinical psychologist, a general psychologist and as an addictions specialist. The immediate supervisor for this position is the Point Loma Branch Head. Some additional duties performed include a wide range of clinical and clinical supervisory activities including, but not limited to: group therapy, psychological assessment, consultation and liaison, leading multidisciplinary treatment teams, supervising and reviewing the work of paraprofessional addiction counselors and working as part of the department and hospital management teams as needed on performance improvement and program development activities. The patient population is primarily military healthcare beneficiaries requiring assistance in substance abuse disorder management and also includes patients with additional co-existing psychiatric diagnoses.

    The successful selectee will perform the following duties:

    • Provide psychological assessment and consultation liaison to Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Program clinics.
    • Plan and conduct group treatment interventions for patients with co-existing psychiatric disorders.
    • Lead weekly multi-disciplinary treatment teams monitoring the progress of 30 or more substance abuse disordered patients.
    • Ensure patient emotional/behavioral conditions are identified and appropriated interventions are utilized.
    • Generate and maintain a variety of clinical records and reports in keeping with pre-established criteria.
