The International Trade Specialist for Power Africa assists the sub-Saharan Africa Regional Director in promoting energy development in Africa by funding feasibility studies, consultancies, training programs, and electricity generation project preparation services in Africa. The employee plans, develops, and monitors a variety of complex projects designed to enhance Africa's electricity supply, allowing them to meet their critical electricity needs and achieve sustainable, long-term economic growth. You will travel to countries in Africa periodically to work with the host country officials to identify activities that are consistent with their development priorities and to meet USTDA program assistance requirements.

Combination of education and/or experience may substitute for the specialized experience requirement:
GS-9: A master's degree or equivalent degree or two full years of progressively higher level education leading lo such a degree, or an LL.B or J.D., if related. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.
GS-11: A Ph. D or equivalent doctoral degree, or three full years of progressively higher level graduate studies leading to such a degree or LL.M, if related. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the duties of the position.
Education alone will not qualify for the GS-12 or GS-13 levels.

Stipulations of Employment:
This temporary appointment may be extended up to a maximum total period of 4 years or terminated at any time at management's discretion. Selection does not confer eligibility to be promoted or reassigned to other positions or to be non-competitively converted to a career-conditional appointment.
