As a Supervisory Interdisciplinary Scientist, you will have the following responsibilities;
- Serves as technical authority on all scientific decisions and judgments in connection with the abuse potential of central nervous system (CNS) active (psychotropic) drugs and all other controlled substances such as anabolic androgenic steroids.
- Provides scientific and policy advice to the Associate Director for Controlled Substances in the development of policies and programs involving the most complex and highest priority scientific matters affecting the regulation of controlled substances.
- Represents the Agency government-wide and is a scientific-regulatory expert in matters related to area of responsibility and is frequently called on to advise others concerning FDA statutes and regulations.
- Directs a staff of medical officers, pharmacologists, interdisciplinary scientists, and chemists engaged in consultation regarding abuse potential assessment and drug scheduling for INDs, NDAs and other submissions for CDER and the other Centers within FDA.
