Nurse Manager, Bartter Clinical Research Unit/Special Diagnostic Treatment Unit
The Bartter Clinical Research Unit (BCRU)/Special Diagnostic Treatment Unit (SDTU) is seeking a Nurse Manager (NM) to lead and facilitate a busy inpatient/outpatient unit capable of carrying out phase I-phase IV research protocols as well as diagnostic testing. The unit serves a diverse patient population that includes both Veterans and non-Veterans and closely collaborates with university affiliates. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to continue a 30+ year tradition of clinical research and expand traditional roles to meet the research mission of the South Texas Veterans Health Care System. The selected Nurse Manager will collaborate with various interdisciplinary teams and various service lines to negotiate the successful implementation of approved clinical trials.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Nurse Manager for 7A BCRU/SDTU is responsible for the provision of safe patient care for a variety of patients undergoing research related interventions as well as Veterans undergoing diagnostic testing. The NM will have the oversight and accountability of physical and human resources, staff selection and development, program development to include policies, interdisciplinary standards of care and operating procedures with the interdisciplinary team. As a registered nurse, you are also responsible for contributing to the establishment and implementation of evidenced-based nursing standards of practice. You will serve as a role model in the delivery of comprehensive patient and family care and the resolution of issues. One goal that nursing service has identified is the pursuit of pathway to excellence (PTE) designation and the successful NM will be expected to support the qualities of PTE leaders. Additionally, STX embraces ICARE core values and it is an expectation that leaders model such essential values. The Nurse Manager is responsible to the Chief Nurse for Nursing Education.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday (7:00am-4:30pm)
