This position is located within the Department of Veterans Affairs, Office of Acquisition, Logistics and Construction, Office of Construction and Facilities Management, Office of Facilities Planning. The duty station for this position is Washington DC. The incumbent serves as Senior Historic Preservation Specialist providing the strategic vision and oversight over various historic preservation programs and initiatives.
The incumbent of this position will directly assist with management of the overall scope, objectives, development and implementation of VA's historic preservation program in accordance with the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, especially Section 110 requiring agencies to establish a program to use, protect and preserve historic properties, and Section 106, requiring agencies to consult on planned undertakings. The incumbent formulates VA-wide policies, guidelines, processes and procedures for implementing the agency's historic preservation program based on comprehensive understanding of national policy objectives and requirements. Incorporates concerns and professional knowledge from facility preservation specialists, architects, engineers, planners, interior designers, managers and project staff into draft documents for issuance by top policy officials, including VA's Secretary. Reviews, analyzes, and interprets cultural resource and real property legislation to assess impact to VA's operations.
Work schedule: Required to work Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
