    The primary responsibilities of the Compounded Sterile Products (CSP) Lead/ Pharmacy Clinical Technician includes ensuring compliance with United States Pharmacopeia (USP),  making chemotherapy and functioning in the capacity of a GS-6 pharmacy technician.

    This position will assist pharmacy management in ensuring the pharmacy program meets the USP standards and maintenance of cleaning procedures for all pharmacy sterile compounding sites, managing competencies relating to the practice of compounding sterile products, educating staff, administering testing (gloved fingertip sampling, media fill testing, etc.), maintaining current and forthcoming USP standards for sterile compounding, maintaining environmental quality control procedures, communicating results/issues to pharmacy management and providing inventory management for pharmacy sterile compounding sites.

    Specific clinical work assignments may include participation in daily activities of making chemotherapy, pharmacy coordinated anticoagulation clinics, laboratory value monitoring, medical chart/action profile, poly-pharmacy reviews, medication utilization monitoring, appointment scheduling, telephone logistical support, and supplemental patient education communication. These pharmaceutical care activities include ambulatory care services such as outpatient prescription processing and dispensing of prescriptions, centralized unit dose and IV admixture programs for inpatient beds, and functions in the capacity of a GS6 pharmacy technician in any area of competency as staffing requirements dictate. The incumbent assists pharmacy management in providing optimal pharmaceutical care and timely customer service. The incumbent operates on a broad delegation of authority with independence of action. This technician functions under the supervision of the Clinical Pharmacy Specialist assigned to the Clinic a daily basis. This position requires candidate to be certified by National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.

    Location: The position is located in the Pharmacy Service Line at Fort Meade, SD.

    Work Schedule: 80 hours biweekly.
