This position is located in the Security Administration Section of the Technical Security Division, Office of Protection Services (OPS). The purpose of this position is to provide installation and maintenance repair services as part of the administration of electronic security system operations.

Physical Requirements: Tasks include lifting equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. Tasks may require moving heavy consoles, cabinets, exhibit cases and furniture to reach equipment. The incumbent must be able to climb and work on ladders for extended periods of time. Reaching, stretching and stooping may be necessary to reach remote equipment locations. The incumbent must have normal color and depth perception.
The incumbent will be required to wear a uniform and safety shoes, which will be provided by the Smithsonian Institution.
Work Environment: The work is performed in all facility areas to include, but not limited to, offices, exhibition, storage, engineering, security control rooms, and security closets. In addition, the work environment may involve risks and discomforts typical of construction sites, areas between walls and areas above ceilings. Incumbent is typically subject to assignment during normal business hours, but may be called upon 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
