This position is located in the Office of Management & Museum Services, Facilities Planning Office, of the National Museum of American History (NMAH), Smithsonian Institution (SI). The incumbent coordinates the integrated, multi-discipline facility and logistics programs at the NMAH in all aspects. This includes construction, maintenance and repair, security, safety, disaster management, external landscape and horticulture, and sustainability by assuring that all activities support and implement the Directors priorities, the NMAH tactical plan, and the NMAH strategic plan. The Museum occupies a 53 year-old, 750,000 square foot building on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. and stores collections off-site in 238,610 square feet of storage space off site in suburban Maryland. The building hosts approximately 4 million visitors a year, conditions and operations are highly visible to the public, requiring a high standard for oversight and maintenance.
